| The Lehigh Trude
The favorite fishing time on the Lehigh for most of our clients and guides is when the fish are eating big attractors on top. The Lehigh Trude combines a few ingredients that make it popular with anglers and trout like peacock herl, some flash, black wing/tail/hackle for a better silhouette, and a highly visible overwing that makes it easier to track in rougher water. The result is a highly visible pattern that can represent a large terrestrial or stonefly. Can you say FISH ON! |

| Start the thread. Advance the thread about half way down the shank and then back up to a short distance. This will make for a less slippery hook shank that will keep the materials on top of the hook better. Tie in some black calf tail for a tail. |
| Tie in a few peacock herls by the tips, NOT THE BUTTS. If you normally tie herls in by the butts you will immediately notice how much fuller the peacock looks when tying with this method. You'll have to tie them in an inch or so from the actual tip because the stem is very fragile at the tip. Wrap the herls forward, tie them off, and clip off the excess |

| Dub a small thorax with a dubbing that has some flash in it. Popular colors are white, red, and chartreuse. |
| Tie in a wing of calf tail and then an over wing of Para Post or some other highly visible synthetic with good floatation. Take care to not make the head to bulky or wrapping the hackle will be more difficult. |
| Tie in a hackle, wrap it on, and tie it off. Immediately head to the stream with your new fly in search of lunkers. |
